High School Conditioning Coach
Coach Patrick is a PFL alumni swimmer and has been coaching for us since 2013. A sectionals qualifier as a swimmer, he is currently a triathlete, Ironman finisher, and three-time half Ironman finisher. Patrick has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University. He loves working with his swimmers every day to help them reach their full potential.
Coach Jacob is currently a PFL Thunder 1 swimmer and will graduate from Taylor High School in 2018. He is an accomplished all-around swimmer who specializes in breaststroke and freestyle. Jacob is a rising star in Gulf Swimming and extremely knowledgeable about the sport of swimming.
Coach Alex started working for PFL in 2017. A lifelong love of the water started in 1977 when the family moved to Katy and he began summer league. In 1981 he swam for WHAT, then spent two years at Mayde Creek High School. After moving to Argentina with his family in 1985, he took advantage of living on the coast and started surfing. He married his high school sweetheart and has two daughters, Abril and Martina, both PFL Thunder swimmers. Coach Alex has always had a dream of being a swim coach, and says, "I guess you could say I’m more comfortable in the water than on land." Alex is Desktop Support Manager at Spark Energy here in Houston. He also provides IT support for Power Aquatics.
Coach Norma is originally from Mexico City. She has been coaching the Pre-Competitive group for PFL since 2015.
Norma has two sons, Gerardo and Leo, one a current PFL swimmer and one an alumni of the program. Her elder son, Leo, has been a Pre-Competitive coach before leaving for college at the University of Texas.
Mary has been Team Manager for Power Aquatics since 2017. She has an extensive administrative background with swim teams from summer league through high school and club levels. She holds Masters Degrees in Engineering (M.S.) and Public Affairs (M.A.) from the University of Pittsburgh and has a professional background in marketing, public relations, commercial development, and strategic planning.
Mary is married and has two sons, Zachary and Tariq, who are PFL Thunder alumni. Zachary was a PFL coach for the Lightning group before leaving for college at the University of Houston.
In accordance with USA Swimming athlete protection policies, PFL coaches and staff do not communicate directly with swimmers via phone, email, or other electronic devices. All such communications must originate from the account or device of a parent or guardian. Our preferred mode of coach/athlete interaction is face-to-face on the pool deck.
Lupe Garcia Wright
Coach Lupe was born and raise in Panama City, Panama. She studied business at the Catholic University in Panama and moved to Texas about 10 years ago. Her great love is yoga. She has been practicing yoga for many years and became a certified yoga instructor in 2013. She is registered with Yoga Alliance and continues studying to keep her yoga education up to date. Lupe is a Pre-Competitive coach and yoga instructor with Power For Life and will carry on learning more about swimming and yoga. Coach Lupe is married and has one son, Albert.
Dry Land Coach
Coach Russell has been with Power Aquatics since 2011. He is an active Masters swimmer and triathlete, including a three-time Iron Man finisher and a 14-time half-Ironman among other races. He has received All World Athlete recognition as a silver medalist for finishing in the top 5% of his age group in Ironman competitions.
Coach Russell is a University of Houston graduate having earned a Masters in Physical Education and a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition. Russell has years of experience teaching physical education and health sciences to Katy ISD high school students and is currently Assistant Coach of Mayde Creek High School Swim Team.
Head Age Group Coach, Power For Life
Coach Greg has worked for Power since 2012. He grew up with Texas swimming and its competitive nature, having been a swimmer for local summer leagues, club teams, and his former high school. A 2010 Cinco Ranch graduate, Greg was a four-year varsity and All-American swimmer. He is an active, self-driven, all-around athlete who on top of swimming participates in multiple sports including sport climbing, bouldering, cycling, and running.
Coach Greg is currently seeking his Bachelors in Business at The University of Houston with a minor in sports science. Greg's extensive expertise as a swimmer and in-depth knowledge of the sport affords him the ability, as a coach, to thoroughly understand and motivate his swimmers.

Head Coach of Power for Life Swim Team / Thunder 1 Coach
Coach Sharon has been a Swim Coach and Instructor since 1972. She is one of only approximately 200 out of the 12,000 certified USA swim coaches holding the highest Level 5 ASCA certification. She has the honor of being Coach of Record for Olympic Gold Medalist and former World Record Holder, Ian Crocker. She has coached numerous National, Junior national, High School State, and NCAA qualifying champions. Many of her swimmers have gone on to college and become captains of their teams. In addition, Sharon has mentored dozens of young and women who have gone on to become coaches in the sport of swimming.
Sharon has served on National and LSC committees, received awards and recognitions in Canada and the United States, and has coached in Australia. Coach Sharon's extensive experience coupled with a demonstrated passion for the sport of swimming has given all who have had her as their coach the pride of being one of 'her kids.'
Coach Becky has been a USA Swimming Coach since 2012. She has coached all age groups from Pre-Competition to Senior level. She has been with PFL since Spring 2017.
Becky holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Sciences. She is married and has one daughter, Mallory, a current PFL Thunder 1 swimmer and Pre-Competitive coach who will go on to swim for the Southern Illinois Salukis in fall 2017.
