PowerFit Summer


Summer only option for PowerFit swimmers.  Ideal for high school swimmers desiring to stay in shape for their varsity or JV tryouts.


Swimmers in the PowerFit group will focus on fitness and conditioning with some technique instruction.   This group is ideal for swimmers who want to focus solely on high school swimming without competing in USA meets.


  • 4 practices per week
  • 90 minutes each
  • Runs from early June until August 4, 2018

Rain

Up to Age 8

Thunder III

  • Ages 13 & up
  • Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
  • Must maintain IMR score
  • Focus on technique with introduction on training methodologies
  • Up to 5 practices per week (1.5 to 2 hours each)

LIGHTNING II

  • Ages 9 - 12
  • Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year
  • Must maintain IMR score
  • Focus on technique in an atmosphere that promotes learning and fun
  • Up to 4 practices per week​ (75 minutes each)


RAIN

For School aged children up to age 8 ready for a competitive environment.   Swimmers are expected to participate in USA meets.


Training is age appropriate and fun, however, swimmers must be disciplined enough to participate in structured swim training. 


  • 3 practices per week
  • ​60 minutes each


SHARK SCHOOL -- Up to Age 12


For School Age children who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke but need to improve their technique before joining the competitive community.  


This is not a learn to swim program.  All swimmers must be able to complete two lengths of the pool in freestyle and one length in backstroke across the deep end.


This program has a fun environment with age appropriate drills to encourage skill development.  Participants will learn all four competition strokes plus legal starts, pullouts, and turns.


  • 2 practices per week
  • 40 minutes each
  • 6 practices per month guaranteed
  • ​School year only (switch to Stroke Clinics in the summer months)
  • Not a part of USA Swimming
  • Goal is to move to competitive team when ready



Thunder II

  • Ages 14 & up
  • Member of High School JV or Varsity swim team
  • Placed by the Head Coach
  • ​Focus is primarily high school swimming
  • Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year​​
  • Must maintain IMX score
  • 5 practices per week (1.5 to 2 hours each)​​​

PowerReady -- Age 9 to 12


Our entry or novice level for school age children who are able to swim but have not yet achieved an IMR or IMX score.


This program will be run concurrently with the Lightning  groups detailed above.  Swimmers can graduate to the Lightning groups as soon as they have achieved their IMR or IMX scores.  Swimmers in the PowerReady group will focus on fitness and conditioning with some technique instruction.  


  • 4 practices per week (M/T/W/Th)
  • 60 to 90 minutes each​ depending on age
  • Runs concurrently with competitive team schedule for Lightning groups
  • Goal is to move to Lightning when ready

LIGHTNING I

  • Ages 11 & up, age 10 with IMX

  • Placed by Coach Sharon

  • Must attend at least 2 USA meets per year

  • Must maintain IMX score

  • Focus on technique in an atmosphere that promotes learning and fun

  • Up to 5 practices per week (90 minutes each)

PowerFit --  Age 13 & Up


Year-round program for middle and high schoolers who desire a challenging workout but have not yet achieved an IMR or IMX score.


This program will be run concurrently with the Thunder II and III groups detailed above.  Swimmers will receive the same instruction for the first six weeks of the season.  After the first T30 time trial and the October IMX meet, swimmers will be split into competitive groups appropriate to their age and/or skill level.  Swimmers can graduate to the next level any time in the season when they achieve an IMX score.  Swimmers in the PowerFit group will focus on fitness and conditioning with some technique instruction.  


This group is also ideal for swimmers who want to focus solely on high school swimming without competing in USA meets, or who wish to swim for a school PE credit.

THUNDER

Ages 13 & Up

High School Swimmers

Thunder and Lightning swimmers who have yet to complete an IMX or IMR score will practice with the PowerReady or PowerFit groups until that milestone is achieved.

Thunder I -- Our Elite Group


Thunder I is a competition-based group for swimmers ages 15 and up who have achieved outstanding performance and dedication to USA Swimming.


Qualifications include:  ​​​

  • Aim to qualify for National level meets

  • Sectionals Qualifier

  • Achieve qualifying T-30 results

  • Demonstrated dedication to USA swimming

  • Must attend USA meets throughout the year

  • Must maintain seasonal IMX score

  • 5 practices per week  (2.5​ hours each​)

  • Member of High School Varsity Team / High School Graduate / College Student

  • May not participate in summer league as an athlete
